SHOP WALNUT & TIMBER VENEER DINING TABLES

A wooden dining table brings a warmth to the room that stone and glass can't quite match. Timber grain looks good every day, it feels soft under your hands, and it sits naturally beside timber floors, linen and leather.

Our timber dining tables are made with real walnut and ash veneer over a stable MDF core. Veneer gives you natural wood grain on the surface, and the core underneath doesn't warp or split with seasonal changes in temperature and humidity. That matters in Australian homes, where a dry summer and a damp winter can be hard on timber.

Walnut Dining Tables

Walnut is the darker, richer timber and has become the go-to for modern dining rooms. The Lorenza pairs a 240cm walnut veneer top with a champagne gold stainless steel base. The Castello is also 240cm long, with a softly rounded rectangular top on two curved pedestal bases.

If you love walnut, our walnut TV units carry the same tone through to the living room.

Light Timber & Coastal Dining Tables

Lighter ash veneer keeps a dining room bright and relaxed, and it suits coastal and Scandinavian homes. The Bella Tavola has a latte-toned ash veneer top with brushed gold joints and comes in 180cm and 220cm sizes.

Rectangle, Round & Oval Shapes

Most of the range is rectangular, which suits long dining rooms and seats the most people for the floor space. If you'd rather have softer lines, the Roma also comes as a 135cm round table, and the Venus and Palazzo are walnut ovals. See more in our round dining tables.

Finding the Right Size

  • 180cm: seats 6
  • 200–220cm: seats 6 to 8
  • 240cm: seats 8

Leave about 90cm between the table and the nearest wall, so chairs can pull out comfortably.

Wood or Stone?

Timber is warmer and quieter, since plates and glasses don't clatter on it. It does need a little more care, though. Use coasters and placemats, and wipe up spills quickly. If you want a top that shrugs off heat and spills, take a look at our sintered stone dining tables.

Complete Your Dining Room

Upholstered chairs in bouclé, fabric or leather soften the look of a timber table. Browse our dining chairs to find a set that suits.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I clean a wooden dining table?

Wipe it with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it straight away. Avoid soaking the surface, and skip harsh sprays or scourers, which can strip the finish.

Can I put hot plates on a wooden dining table?

It's best not to. Heat and steam can leave white marks on a timber finish, so use trivets for hot dishes and placemats under plates.

What size wooden dining table seats 8?

Look for a table around 220–240cm long. Our Lorenza and Castello are both 240cm and comfortably seat eight.

Is walnut or light timber better for a dining room?

Walnut is darker and richer, and it suits modern rooms and darker floors. Light ash keeps a space bright and relaxed, so it works well in smaller rooms and coastal homes.

Does a wooden dining table change colour over time?

Timber can mellow slightly with strong, direct sunlight. If your table sits near a big window, a sheer curtain or blind helps keep the colour even.

Do I need placemats on a wooden dining table?

They're a good idea for everyday meals. Placemats and coasters protect the surface from heat, moisture rings and scratches from cutlery and plates.
