SHOP MODERN DINING TABLES IN STONE, MARBLE & TIMBER
The dining table is one of the few pieces of furniture the whole household uses every day. It's breakfast before school, homework in the afternoon, dinner at night and, a few times a year, a long lunch with everyone squeezed around it. That's a lot to ask of one table, so it's worth choosing carefully.
Our range of modern dining tables covers sintered stone, marble and walnut and ash timber, in rectangular, round and oval shapes, from compact 4-seaters to 240cm tables for eight. Here's a simple way to narrow it down.
Sintered Stone Dining Tables
If you want a top that handles real family life, sintered stone is hard to beat. It shrugs off heat, spills and everyday scratches, and never needs sealing. You'll find marble-look whites, warm Pandora Browns and darker veined finishes. The Olmo Fiorito, for example, seats eight on a Pandora Brown stone top. See all sintered stone dining tables.
Marble Dining Tables
Nothing quite matches real marble for character. Every slab has its own veining, and a heavy stone top gives the room real presence. It does need a little more care than sintered stone, so wipe spills promptly and use placemats. The Aurora, with its black rose marble and gold inlays, is a real statement piece. Wooden Dining Tables
Timber brings warmth that stone can't, and it's quieter too, since plates and glasses don't clatter on it. Our tables use real walnut and ash veneer over a stable core, so the top won't warp with Australian weather. The 240cm Lorenza pairs walnut with a champagne gold base. See all wooden dining tables.
Round & Oval Dining Tables
A round dining table puts everyone at the same distance from the centre, so conversation flows more easily, and it fits smaller rooms and apartments well. Oval tables keep the soft shape but stretch to seat six to eight. The 150cm Mont Blanc is a popular 6-seater. Browse all round dining tables.
Extendable Dining Tables
If you only need the extra seats a few times a year, an extendable dining table gives you both: a compact table every day and a bigger one when guests arrive. The Forma Bella goes from 180cm to 260cm and seats up to ten. See all extendable dining tables.
How to Choose the Right Size
Most people start with the number of seats, then check the room:
- 4 people: a 120–135cm round or rectangular table
- 6 people: around 150cm round or 160–180cm rectangular
- 8 people: 200–240cm rectangular or oval
- Clearance: leave about 90cm between the table and the wall, so chairs can pull out and people can walk behind
If the room is tight, mark the table's outline on the floor with tape before you buy. It's the quickest way to see how it will really feel.
Choosing Chairs for Your Table
Chairs make a bigger difference to comfort than the table itself. Look for a seat height around 45–48cm for a standard 75–76cm table, and allow about 60cm of table edge per chair. Armless chairs fit more seats around a round table. Browse our dining chairs to find a set that suits.
