Wall Paintings

Artwork that spans roughly half to two-thirds of the sofa width is a useful starting point. One oversized canvas or a coordinated multi-panel set can both work. The aim is to choose a piece substantial enough to relate visually to the sofa beneath it.

Hang the artwork close enough to the sofa that the two feel connected rather than floating separately. The exact gap depends on the artwork size and ceiling height, but keeping the lower edge within a comfortable visual distance of the sofa back usually works well.

Large walls generally benefit from oversized artwork or a substantial multi-panel arrangement. Very small pieces can look lost when surrounded by too much empty wall. Measure the wall and nearby furniture before choosing the final dimensions.

It does not need to match exactly. Repeating one or two colours from the sofa, rug or cushions can create a connection, while contrasting colours can make the artwork a stronger focal point. Choose art you like rather than forcing an exact furniture match.

One large artwork creates a cleaner focal point and is easier to balance above a sofa or buffet. A gallery wall offers more variety but requires careful spacing and a consistent visual theme. The better choice depends on the room style and wall size.

Dining rooms can handle larger artwork because it is often viewed from across the room. Abstract, landscape and textured pieces all work well. Choose dimensions that relate to the dining table, buffet or wall rather than selecting art based only on colour.
